Bell Ringing

There are six bells at Veryan Church – Veryan is the only six-bell peal on the
Roseland – and we have a small group of enthusiastic ringers. We ring for Sunday
services, for weddings and funerals if requested, and to mark important national
events such as Jubilees, the Coronation, the recent commemoration of VE day etc.
Phil Preece (07774 893142) is Tower Captain and Martin Slater (07817 747304 or
martin.slater@seh.ox.ac.uk) Tower Secretary.

We practise most Tuesday nights from 7.30pm to 9.00pm. We welcome visitors
(bring a mug if possible for tea and cake!) but please phone or email Martin to check
it is on.

We are always on the lookout for new members, of all levels of experience or none,
all ages from 9 to 90, all sexes and genders. You do not have to be a regular
churchgoer, or a resident of Veryan. We are a friendly and informal group and can
provide refresher support for rusty old-stagers, and we are looking into how to
reorganise teaching for complete beginners. If you think you might be interested,
please contact Martin by phone or email.

Christine Edwards has written an interesting pamphlet on “Church Bells on the
Roseland”, available in the church, price £2.
